Win 13 Medals in NJ

Paterson, NJ - Athletes from the Glenville, NY based Jason Morris Judo Center
(JMJC) won 13 total medals including 8 gold at the Northeastern
Judo Championships over the weekend. Seth (4-0) and Christie
Woosley (7-0) both remained undefeated since joining the JMJC both claiming
gold. Seth was 2-0 in the 6-7yrs. 50lbs division winning both
of his matches by ippon. Christie won double gold going 2-0 in
11-12yrs. 57kg and 3-0 in the 13-16yrs. 57kg division where she showed
off her new techniques throwing a nice Uchimata and Sode for ippon.
Burnt Hills High Sophmore, Kyle Vashkulat continued his winning ways going 3-0 in the 90kg 15-16yrs. old
division as well as posting a 3-0 record in the 90kg men's
weight class. Burnt Hills High Junior, Jeremy
Liggett was 3-0 to win gold in the men's 60kg division. Burnt Hills
High Junior, Nick Delpopolo was the class
of the tournament going 5-0 to win the men's 73kg category.
Delpopolo had 2 decisive wins over 2005 US Open silver medalist Dan
Santos (66kg). Delpopolo's performance earned him the
"Most Outstanding Senior Male" award. Rounding
out the gold medal count was Burnt Hills High Senior, AJ Silverman who went 3-0 in the mens 66kg division. Burnt Hills High
Junior, Jemaine Jarvis
went 3-1 to take silver in the mens 60kg division losing only to
teammate Jeremy Liggett in in the final. Albany State
Freshman, Yuko Sin also picked up
silver in the mens 81kg division going 4-1 with his only loss coming
at the hands of 2004 Olympian Rick Hawn. Jonathan
Woosley went 2-2 in the 10-12 year old division picking up a bronze medal.
Newcomer Ian Handschuh finished up the medal count for the JMJC going 2-2 in the 9-10 yr
old division to win a bronze.
