Liggett wins a Gold and Silver

 

Miami, FL – Members of the Glenville, NY based Jason Morris Judo Club (JMJC) won 6 medals including 3 Gold at the Fall Classic and Ladder tournaments September 3 – 4, 2005.  Burnt Hills High School Junior, Jeremy Liggett (16) led the way going 5-0 to claim the 60kg Fall Classic title, including an early round win over Michael Ferrer, 2005 Sr. National Bronze medalist.  Liggett won a Silver the next day at the Ladder tournament going 4-1 finishing behind teammate AJ Silverman (17) in the 66kg division.  Silverman, a Burnt Hills High School Senior, was 4-0 to take the Ladder title winning all his matches by ippon.  AJ went 2-2 the day before in the tough Fall Classic 66kg weight class.  Burnt Hills graduate, Yuko Sin (18) went 4-2 to capture the silver in 81kg with his losses coming from 2004 Olympian, Rick Hawn in the Fall Classic. Yuko followed up with another silver in the Ladder at 90kg with a 3-2 record.  Dave Chapman (19) went 2-2 at 90kg in the Fall Classic but came back strong in the Ladder to win Gold in 100kg going 4-1.  Burnt Hills High School Sophomore, Kyle Vashkulat (15) went 2-2 in the 90kg division in the Ladder placing 4th but was 0-2 in the Fall Classic.  Jess Elizalde (18) and Schalmont High School Freshman, Ronni Aragona (14) fought well and gained much needed experience for their future but did not place.
