Morris Promoted to 7th Degree

Judo legend and Jason Morris Judo Center (JMJC) founder, Jason
Morris (39) has been promoted to seventh degree black belt by both
the the United States Judo Association (USJA) and the United States
Judo Federation (USJF). The USJA announced the promotion in august
and the USJF passed the upgrade at their annual meeting in November.
Morris' impressive competition resume includes winning an Olympic
silver medal in Barcelona in 1992, Winning a bronze at the 1993
world championships in Hamilton, Canada and being a 4x Olympian
('88, '92, '96 & '00). Morris, who retired after the Sydney
Olympics in 2000 has contributed to the sport of Judo far beyond his
results as a competitor. He started his own Judo program, which is
has developed into the top rated club in the USA. The JMJC placed
four players on the 2005 US team that competed at world
championships in Cairo, Egypt in September. Morris was also the
National coach for the US team at the worlds, 2005 & 2006 Pan Am
team. The Center currently has 12 players ranked on the US Sr.
National roster, which is far more than any other program. In 1997,
Morris started the publication of Real Judo Magazine, which quickly
became North America's premier Judo Publication and continues to
this day.
