Carrie Chandler and Nick Kossor Compete in 2006 Swedish Open, Chandler Places 7th

Boras, Sweden - Jason Morris Judo Center (JMJC) athlete, Carrie Chandler posted a 3-2 record in 52kg to take seventh place at the Swedish Open Saturday, November 4, 2006.  The Swedish Open is a European Judo Union (EJU) "B" level event.

Chandler opened with victories over Stephanie Inglis (GBR) and Xenia Hofer (SUI) before losing to eventual bronze medalist, Iwona Machalek (POL) in the quarterfinals.  Chandler then went on to defeat Nikolina Simunic (CRO) before losing to 7x EJU medalist, Monika Cabaj (POL) in a close tough battle.  Cabaj would go on to win the other bronze medal.

Chandler's JMJC teammate, Nick Kossor competed the next day in the 60kg.  Kossor opened his day losing a tough match to eventual champ, Valtteri Jokinen (FIN).  Kossor then had a chance to come back for the bronze but that effort was thwarted by Ludovic Chammertin (SUI) when the Swiss player countered an attack by Kossor to end his day.
Chandler and Kossor will remain in Sweden during the week for a training camp before traveling to compete in the Finnish Open next weekend.
