Glenville, NY - Jason Morris Judo Center (JMJC) Assistant Coach and
Manager, Teri Takemori was selected by the Pan American Judo Union
(PJU) to attend the first ever women's coaches conference put on by the
International Judo Federation (IJF).
Teri's selection by the Pan American Judo Union; located in the Dominican Republic;
is a tremendous endorsement for both USA Judo and the JMJC, recognizing Teri as a terrific ambassador for
the sport of Judo. "Having Teri there is putting USA Judo and the JMJC's best
foot forward" said 2008 Olympic Judo Coach, Jason Morris.
The site of the week long conference (December 12-18, 2006) will be Fukuoka, Japan
during the Women's only 24th annual Fukuoka International Judo
tournament. Historically, the Fukuoka International has been one of the
toughest women's events on the IJF circuit.
2006 is the last year the Fukuoka International will
be held as a women's only event as the Japanese Federation is planning on combining
the women's event with the men's event (Kano Cup).
Takemori has been a top level
competitor, coach, organizer & referee for many years.
Teri's highlights as a competitor include a Pacific Rim Championship along
with medaling in the US Nationals 8 times.
Teri's refereeing high point to date was
when she was selected to officiate at the 2003 World Championships in
Osaka, Japan.
Now as a coach, Takemori is the backbone of the JMJC, helping to
develop JMJC into one of the top Judo training programs in the US in just 6 short
years. Teri was recently promoted to 6th Degree Black Belt by the
United States Judo Federation (USJF) to recognize her excellent
performance and service over the course of her career. Teri is
one of the highest ranking women in Judo in North America.
Teri leaves on Monday, December 11th and returns from Fukuoka on December 18th.
