Mass State Judo Results—Bigec & Liggett win Gold
Lawrence, MA - Jeremy Liggett and Shayna Bigec of the Jason Morris Judo Club won gold medals at the Massachusetts Open State Judo Championships, Sunday March 24, 2002. While part of the club was competeing in Lousiana, Liggett put on a great show in Lawrence, MA. Liggett was a human highlight reel during the tournament going 9-1 recovering from a second round loss to storm through 8 srtaight fights to caputre the tilte in the 11-12 middleweights. Liggett was awarded the "Most Outsanding Jr. Player" for his efforts. Bigec had her best outing of her career goign 4-0 to win the 11-12 heavyweight crown. Bigec won all 4 of her matches by "Ippon"(full point). Jeff Albino competed for the first time in 2 years and won a silver medal in the mens heavyweight division. The 19 year old, Albino has been out due to knee surgery. Ronni Aragona continued to show improvement to also win a silver medal in the 9-10 heavyweights going 2-2 on the day.
