Starrett Cup Judo Results--Jason Morris Judo Club win 6 Gold Medals
Brooklyn, NY - Members of the Glenville, NY based Jason Morris Judo Club won 6 Gold and 1 Silver medal at the Starrett Cup Sunday, January 20, 2002. Peggy Whitaker led the way going 8-0 winning all her matches by ippon (full point) to take the title in the 13-16 lightweight division. Jeremy Liggett won the 11-12 lightweight division going 4-0 and also won all his matches by ippon. Carrie Chandler easily went 3-0 to claim the 57kg woman's category winning all her matches by ippon. Liz Burns was also 3-0 in the 52kg woman's division to collect her Gold. Nick Delpopolo impressively went 7-0 to win the 11-12 middleweight division winning all his matches by ippon and his sister Helen went 3-0 to capture a Gold in the 9-10 middleweight division. Shayna Bigec won a silver in the 11-12 heavyweights and Nate Torra did not place in the men's 73kg category. Torra normally competes at 60kg, but moved up to get stiffer competition.
