JMJC
Win 13 Medals
Danvers, MA - Members of the Jason Morris Judo Club (JMJC) won 13
medals including 10 Gold at the 22nd annual Chaves Memorial Judo
tournament November 8, 2003. The JMJC also picked up the team title.
Jeremy Liggett (14) led the way winning 2 Gold medals. He won the
13-16 middleweight division with a 3-0 record and he won the Sr.
Brown Belt 60kg division also with a 3-0 record. Yuko Sin (16) matched
Liggett winning 2 Golds as well. Sin went 3-0 in both the 13-16
heavyweight and Sr. Brown 81kg divisions. Ronni Aragona (12) breezed
to 3-0 mark to win the 9-12 middleweight division. Jeremy Galib
(10) went 3-1 to win the Gold in the 9-12 heavyweights while JMJC
teammate John Schiavo (10) took a bronze in the same weight class
with a 2-2 record. JMJC's newest member, Mike Doria (13) went 4-0
including 2 overtime wins over long time nemesis, Steve Perez to
win the 13-16 lightweight division. Nate Torra (20) moved up from
his normal 66kg weight class to impressively win a gold at 73kg
with a 4-0 mark and a silver at 81kg with a 3-1 record. Nick Kossor
easily won a gold with a 3-0 record at 66kg and AJ Silverman (15)
added another Gold winning the 15-16 middleweight category with
a 2-0 mark. Dave Chapman (17) won a silver at 100kg with a 3-2 mark
including a win over a former Nationally ranked, Dennis Utkin. Laura
Galib (6) closed out the JMJC medal count picking up a bronze with
a 2-2 mark in the 5-6 lightweight division. Next up for the JMJC
will be the Ontario Open November 22-23, 2003.
