                 Burns & Mocco Finish Seventh

         Tampere, Finland - Liz Burns (20) and Katie Mocco (21) from the Glenville, NY based Jason Morris Judo Club (JMJC) finished seventh in the Finnish Open over the weekend. Burns had a 2-2 record at 57kg with her losses coming at the hands of eventual bronze medalist, Katrien Ongena (Belgium) and the other bronze medal winner, Monika Wozniak (Poland). Mocco also went 2-2 in the 70kg division with her losses being to eventual champ, Cecilia Blanco (Spain) and bronze medal winner, Sam Lowe (Great Britain). The other JMJC member to compete was Carrie Chandler (23) at 52kg but she didn't fare as well losing both her matches to Anna Kharitonova (Russia) and eventual bronze medalist, Georgina Singleton (Great Britain). The girls will remain in Finland at a training camp until thursday when they will travel to Prague to compete in the Czech Open this weekend. "The girls are showing some real improvement and showing that they can be competitive Internationally. I am really looking forward to seeing how they fare on the rest of their European tour as the continue to improve" said JMJC coach, Jason Morris.
