Athletes from the Jason Morris Judo Center were busy competing all over the world April 1, 2023. 2x Olympian and Burnt Hills Graduate, Nick Delpopolo (34) looked sharp winning a 73kg Gold at the Pedro’s Challenge in Danvers, MA going 5-0 on the day. JMJC teammate, Melissa Myers (26) also preformed well on her way to winning a Gold in the 70kg category going 4-0. While Delpopolo and Myers were competing in Danvers, Ari Berliner (24), Kell Berliner (29), Hannah Martin (34) and Nicole Stout (25) were participating at the Antalya, Turkey Grand Slam event which is an Olympic qualifier. Ari and Kell both made it to the round of 32 gaining 120 points. Ari boosted his world ranking to #45 in 66kg and Kell who competes at 81kg jumped up to a career high #71. Hannah (63kg) who is also a Burnt Hills Graduate sits at #35 and Nicole is at career high #67 at 78kg maintain their rankings as both lost tough first round battles. While the athletes were all over the world, I had the opportunity to take Dani and Randi to their first rock concert (see that news post here!).
