Elite athletes from the Jason Morris Judo Center (JMJC) in Glenville, NY competed over the weekend at the Polish Open in Warsaw. Nicole Stout (22) led the way taking 7th place in 78kg. Stout made it to the quarterfinal losing a tight overtime thriller to eventual silver medalist, Renee Van Harselaar (Netherlands). Ari Berliner (21) beat Massinissa Oudjane (Algeria) in his first bout before losing to eventual 66kg silver medalist, Karo Marandian (Ukraine). Ari’s brother Kell (81kg) also went 1-1 beating Kerim Ouerfelli (Poland) before losing to Massimiliano Carollo from Italy. Ari, Kell & Nicole will be joined next week by JMJC teammates, Darren Elcock, Zach Judy and Mellisa Myers as they all will compete in Bariloche, Argentina.
