Guayaquil, Ecuador/ Budapest, Hungary – Athletes from the Glenville, NY based, Jason Morris Judo Center enjoyed a stellar weekend all over the world. Leading the way was Nicole Stout (25) who took a 78kg Gold medal at the Ecuador Open, July 10, 2022. Kell Berliner (28) performed well picking up an 81kg silver losing only in the final to Gil Agustin from Argentina. Melissa Myers was 5th at 70kg. In another part of the world JMJC’s Ari Berliner (23) made it all the way to the round of 16 in the prestigious Budapest Grand Slam losing to eventual bronze medalist and #18 ranked in the world, Tai Flicker (Israel). This result catapulted Berliner to at career high ranking at 66kg to #29. Burnt Hills High School Graduate, Hannah Martim (34) lost in a tough 63kg opening round match as did Nate Keeve (26) who competes at 100kg. JMJC Alumni, Carrie Chandler (40) made history becoming the first JMJC woman to coach at a Grand Slam as she served as one of the official USA Judo coaches for this event.
